2025's Theme Is...

File N°28

Welcome to the ambitious corner of the internet! Each week, we study history’s most successful icons so we can steal their strategies. If you were forwarded this email, you can get the free weekly email here.

Hi friends,

2025’s theme is Legacy.

I know some of you are founders, VCs, entrepreneurs, and people who work in corporate.  The rest of you are artists, stylists, writers, people who can’t help but be creative.

Many of you are a combination of both.

But I think we all have something in common.  You and I and everyone who opens this email want to build a legacy. Something greater than ourselves. Something that can positively impact the people we love and the world we live in.

For some of you, that means building a more modern, compassionate version of Amazon.  For others, that means opening up an art gallery in the West Village or becoming a partner in Big Law. Creating an empire that rivals Martha Stewart Living, Walmart, or LVMH.

How does that change what you and I are doing here?

I’ll keep writing about the intersection of history and business and art and culture and technology with one minor change - I’ll tailor each post to the version of you that is determined to build a legacy.  And start publishing weekly - because legacy requires consistency.  If I don’t get consistent, I won’t have a legacy.

I’ll also do quarterly check-ins to keep us on track - I want to know what legacy you are working towards and how we can help each other get to where we’re going.

So I’m going to get to writing, and you keep building your legacy.

Best,

LaToya

Nobu Hospitality, LLC owns and operates 36 hotels and 56 restaurants across four continents.  They haven't closed a single hotel or restaurant in over three decades. The CEO plans to expand the number of hotels from 36 to 80.  This is exactly the kind of business you and I should be studying so we can stay motivated, steal their strategies, and accomplish our goals.
